Les is a well-known Melbourne voice practitioner.

While reading English and Linguistics at Monash University, he commenced studies with celebrated voice and speech teacher, Astrid Wootton. Under her direction, he qualified as a specialist in voice, speech, and drama and was awarded the Dorothy Dwyer Scholarship (University of Melbourne). Postgraduate opportunities followed, including training with Cicely Berry, Patsy Rodenburg, and Rowena Balos.  

Les has trained generations of actors at the National Theatre Drama School in Melbourne, as well as music theatre students (VCA and ShowFit).

His alumni often play leading roles on stage and screen, as well as pioneering new theatre work.

His private studio has nurtured a number of leading voice teachers: for example, Head of Voice at Rose Bruford College, ALRA, LAMDA (all London); TTRP (Singapore); and Federation University (Ballarat, Victoria).

He is in demand as a voice coach on theatre productions and has a special interest in new writing.
